Celebrate National Maritime Day: May 22,2012
Join all of us in the Maritime World in celibrating National Maritime Day.  We live in a small segmant of transportation and should all be remembering how we got here.

Energy Audits are important to save money and cut power consumption.
Have you looked at you company power bill lately?  Do you go home with all the lights on just like the plant was in operation?  If the answer is yes to any of these then you need to set up a meeting with your staff and the maintenance department.  Ask the people who are there all night doing the maintenance.  They will know what is needed and what is not.  The use of zone lighting or emergency lighting may be all that is needed.  HVAC may not be all needed when the plant is closed up or maybe the temperature can be turned up for A/C or turned down for heating.  The night shift crews will have the answer.  You may not always be able to do what is asked but it will sure help in the overall decisions to cut costs.

0-50 Maritime Quality Culture Group

Machinery Audit and Evaluation
When was the last time you took a long look at your machinery, plant or maintenance needs?  Have you asked the department heads and the maintenance people, who perform the tasks, to keep it all running?  Do you have machinery that does the job, but things are getting harder to support?  Have you ever asked the question, (Is there a better way to perform a task at a lesser cost in both equipment and downtime?)  Time and time again I talk to worldwide corporations and company management, this question and they tell the same story.  Do you have a steering committee or group to work with all the people involved from the top to the bottom before projects are undertaken?  If you cannot answer YES, to all of these, you are missing very important steps to cutting costs and increasing the bottom line.  Let CED Consulting, help you with this very important part of planning a project or upgrade.

Noise Corral for portable noisy engine, pumps and other equipment
CED and Argosy Acoustics team up to design and test the "Noise Corral,"  for use with existing portable Generators, Pressure Washers and pumps to quiet them for use in all types of applications.  Generators, pumps, pressure washers, steam cleaners all produce environmental impacts on our ears.  The first phase of the test was very successful and dropped the noise almost 10db's.  It reduced the high frequency noise above 800 Hertz and uncovered the lower frequency noise from the industrial muffler.  By changing the muffler we can remove the firing and exhaust pulse low frequency noise and this will drop the sound levels even more.  The great thing about this we can use the "Noise Corral," to quiet existing units so you don't have to replace the units you already have.  The Noise Corral will be available in several sizes for sale rental or lease as it becomes available.  The larger units can be used on outdoor A/C units to quiet them below the factory units, to make you neighbors happy that your A/C is not disturbing them.  Ask about the, "Noise Corral," and what Argosy Acoustics." can do for you.

Deep Ocean Sea Water Cooling & Air Conditioning

With today’s high cost of energy for Air Conditioning, it can be a real savings to use the cold deep water of the ocean.

The number one problem of using this sea water is damage to heat exchangers, piping, valves and pumps.  The piping and valves can be addressed with PVC, Plastic alternate materials and the same applies to the pumps.  Sensors and controls are also and item that many don't think about or address as far as materials and most of all the installation.  We offer pumps that deal with this problem and many even have Mil-Spec certifications.  Let us talk to you about the things to do and those things not to do.

Energy and maintenance is very expensive, affects your bottom line so use your money wisely not just decide what budget to use.

NOREN Cooling options
Never feel that the major problems and conditions in your harsh environments can't be solved.  Clark is working with Noren to solve cooling for electronic packages from rack to transivers sitting out in a harsh environment.  Talk to us about ways to solve this with A/C unites or to just plan heat transfer with Heat Tube units.  Let you power requirement help with what can be done with available power and save you equipment from overheating.

CEROS Conferance in Honolulu
Aloha from Hawaii, Clark just attended the CEROS conferance in Honolulu Hawaii.  The conferance brought people from all over the country from here in the islands to those from our Nations Capital, Washington DC.  The DOD, US Navy, Army and many agency's were involved.  Many companies who have products or systems that can help us all get the job done better and save untold dollars with things and ideas, thinking out of the box.  It was a great event and was well recivied by all as positive move for our country.

Large Diesel Engine Turbocharger Lag

Today's large ships and power plants, with large diesel engine turbochargers suffer from what is commonly referred to as,"Turbocharger Lag," and visible "Black Smoke," causing loss or reduction of daylight arrivals, departures, maneuvering, engine starts and maintenance, not to mention possible fines for air pollution.
